BU Hockey Player Arrested On Sex Assault Charge

Boston University says Max Nicastro, a defenseman on its men's hockey team, will be arraigned on a sexual assault charge Tuesday in Brighton District Court.

University police arrested Nicastro Sunday on the Charles River Campus. BU Police Chief Thomas Robbins says his department and the Suffolk County district attorney's office are investigating.

Robbins says the incident allegedly happened on campus. The university said a female student made the accusation.

Nicastro, a junior from Thousand Oaks, Calif., is being held on $25,000 cash bail.

Athletic director Michael Lynch says Nicastro has been suspended from the hockey team pending the outcome of the investigation.

A university spokesman did not immediately respond to an email on Monday seeking information about whether Nicastro is represented by a lawyer.
