The five-week-long Mattapan murder trial came to an end Thursday with no guilty verdicts and a feeling by the victim's families — and shared by many in the community — that justice had not been done.

Edward Washington was acquitted of all charges and jurors could not decide whether Dwayne Moore, the man prosecutors allege was the shooter in the 2010 execution-style murders along Blue Hill Avenue, was guilty or not.

To help sort out some of the complex legal issues surrounding such a long and emotional trial, David Frank, of Massachusetts Lawyer's Weekly, joined Morning Edition.

This program aired on March 23, 2012.
