Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling is asking the state of Rhode Island to help save his video game company from financial collapse.

Schilling moved his company, 38 Studios, from Maynard, Mass., to Providence in 2010 after Rhode Island offered him $75 million in loan guarantees.

Now, the company has failed to make a $1 million loan payment to the state and on Wednesday Schilling met with the board of the state's Economic Development Corporation to discuss his company's money problems.

John Kostrzewa, business editor for the Providence Journal, joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss 38 Studios' financial situation.

This program aired on May 17, 2012.
