The 2012 BIO International Convention — the largest biotech convention in the world — wraps up Thursday in Boston.

Since it opened on Monday, the convention has attracted some 15,000 attendees and more than $25 million to Boston. But this could be the last time Boston gets to host the annual event.

The convention's organizer — the Biotechnology Industry Organization — says Boston is "too small" and "needs to expand for BIO."

Massachusetts Convention Center Authority Director Jim Rooney agrees. He joined WBUR's Morning Edition to talk about what why and how Boston needs to expand.

This program aired on June 20, 2012.
