3:35 p.m. -- Molly Huddle, of Providence, R.I., has placed 11th in the finals of the Women’s 5000m race.

2:11 p.m. Melissa Gonzalez, a UConn alumna, and the U.S. Women’s Field Hockey team has lost to Belgium, 2-1, in the 11-12 Classification Match.

4:37 p.m. — Heather O'Reilly, Lauren Cheney (both of whom play for the Boston Breakers) and the U.S. Women's Soccer team have won the gold medal, beating Japan 2-1 in the final match.

3:40 p.m. -- Samyr Laine, a Harvard University alum competing for Haiti, has placed eleventh in the Men's Triple Jump finals.

3:31 p.m. — Heather O'Reilly, Lauren Cheney (both of whom play for the Boston Breakers) and the U.S. Women's Soccer team are up 1-0 at halftime against Japan.

1:40 p.m. -- UConn alumnae Sue Bird, Asjah Jones, Tina Charles, Swin Cash, Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi and the U.S. Women’s Basketball team have beaten Australia in the semifinals, 86-73. They will play either Russia or France in the Gold Medal Game at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11.

6:25 p.m. — Sean Furey, of Metheun, and Craig Kinsley, of Fairfield, Conn., have failed to qualify for the finals of the Men's Javelin Throw.

9:37 a.m. -- Sarah Lihan, a Yale University alumna, has placed 17th in the ninth race and ninth in the 1oth race of the Women’s 470 competition.

9:24 a.m. -- Elena Pirozhkova, of Greenfield, has lost in the 1/8 round of the Women’s 63kg Freestyle wrestling competition.

4:04 p.m. -- Phylicia George, a UConn alumna competing for Canada, has placed sixth in the finals of the Women’s 100m Hurdles competition. She tied her personal best with a time of 12.65 seconds

2:44 p.m. -- Phylicia George, a UConn alumna competing for Canada, has advanced to the finals in the Women’s 100m Hurdles competition, which will be held at 4:00 p.m. today.

12:10 p.m. -- Aly Raisman, of Needham, has won the gold medal in the Women's Individual  Floor Exercise with a score of 15.600.

11:50 a.m. -- Aly Raisman, of Needham, has received a score of 15.600 in the Women’s Individual Floor Exercise. As of now she is in first place, but there are five more gymnasts who have not yet competed.

10:34 a.m. -- UConn alumnae Sue Bird, Asjah Jones, Tina Charles, Swin Cash, Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi, and the U.S. Women’s Basketball team have defeated Courtnay Pilypaitis, a University of Vermont alumna, UMass Amherst alumnae Tamara Tatham and Alisha Tatham, and the Canadian Women’s Basketball team in the quarterfinals, 91-48.

10:26 a.m. -- Aly Raisman, of Needham, has won the bronze medal in the Women’s Individual Beam competition. An appeal determined she won via a tiebreaker rule.

10:20 a.m. -- Sarah Lihan, a Yale University alumna, finished third in the seventh race and ninth in the eighth race of the Women’s 470 competition.

10:07 a.m. -- Stuart McNay, of Boston, has placed seventh in the ninth race and fourth in the 10th race of the Men’s 470 competition.

*Update* -- Kamal Bahamdan, a BU alum competing for Saudi Arabia, has won the Bronze medal in Equestrian Team Jumping.

9:00 p.m. -- Lauren Cheney, Heather O’Reilly, Meghan Klingenberg (all of whom play for the Boston Breakers), and the U.S. Women’s Soccer team have defeated Canada in the semifinals 4-3. Alex Morgan scored the game winner on an assist from Heather O'Reilly with just 30 seconds left in the second overtime period. The U.S. team will play Japan in a rematch of the 2011 Women's World Cup.

1:51 p.m. -- Laura Georges, a Boston College alumna, and the French Women’s Soccer team have lost to Japan in the semifinals.  They will play in the Bronze Medal Match on August 9 and face the loser of today's match between the U.S. and Canada being held at 2:45 p.m. today.

12:32 p.m. --  The U.S. Sailing Team comprised of Trevor Moore, of North Pomfret, Vt., and Erik Storck, a Dartmouth College alum, has placed eighth in the 14th race and 17th in the 15th race of the Men's 49er competition. Alexander Kirkland, a Tufts University alum sailing for Bermuda, has placed 19th in the 14th race and 18th in the 15th race of the same competition.

10:14 a.m. -- Mark Mendelblatt, a Tufts University alum, finished sixth in the medal race of the Men’s Star competition. He finished seventh in the overall standings

10:11 a.m. — Shalane Flangan, of Marblehead, finished tenth in the Women's Marathon. Kim Smith, of Providence but competing for New Zealand, finished 15th.

3:31 p.m. -- Melissa Gonzalez, a UConn alumna, and the U.S. Women’s Field Hockey lost to  New Zealand in group play.

12:09 p.m. -- Sarah Lihan, a Yale University alumna, placed fifth in the third race and seventh in the fourth race of the Women's 470 competition.

11:58 a.m. -- Stuart McNay, of Boston, placed 23rd in the fifth race and 24th sixth race of the Men’s 470 competition.

11:36 a.m. -- Rob Crane, of Darien, Conn., placed 33rd in the ninthrace and 44thin the 10th race of the Men’s Laser competition.

11:30 a.m. -- Kristin Hedstrom, of Concord, placed fifth in Final B of the Women’s Lightweight Double Sculls competition. Gevvie Stone, of Cambridge, may not have had a chance to medal, but she placed first in Final B of the Women’s Single Sculls competition with the fastest time of any rower in the finals.

11:26 a.m. -- Henrik Rummel, a Harvard alum, and Charlie Cole, of New Canaan, Conn., have won the bronze medal in the Men’s Four rowing competition.

11:23 a.m. -- Sarah Groff, of Hanover, came in fourth in the Women’s Triathalon.

Friday, August 3

7:17 p.m. -- UConn alumnae Sue Bird, Asjah Jones, Tina Charles, Swin Cash, Maya Moore, and Diana Taurasi have defeated the Czech Republic Women's Basketball team 88-61in group play. Diana Taurasi led all scorers with 18 points, Sue Bird led all players with nine assists, and Tina Charles led all players with 15 rebounds.

5:30 p.m. -- Temi Fagbenle, of Harvard, Rachel Vanderwal, a BU alum, Johannah Leedham, a Franklin and Pierce alum, and the British Women’s Basketball team have lost to France in group play, 80-77. Leedham led all scorers with 29 points.

3:36 p.m. -- Andrew Wheating, of Norwich, Vt., has qualified for the semifinals of the Men’s 1500m competition.

3:12 p.m. — Elizabeth Beisel, of Saunderstown, R.I., has won the bronze medal in the Women’s 200m Backstroke competition. Missy Franklin won gold.

1:38 p.m. -- Courtnay Pilypaitis, a University of Vermont alumna, UMass Amherst alumnae Tamara Tatham and Alisha Tatham, and the Canadian Women’s Basketball team have beaten Brazil in group play, 79-73.

1:34 p.m. — The U.S. Sailing Team comprised of Trevor Moore, of North Pomfret, Vt., and Erik Storck, a Dartmouth College alum, has placed third in the ninth race, 17th in the 10th race and fifth in the 11th race of the 49er competition. 9:25 a.m. – Keith Sanderson, of Plymouth, did not make it past the qualification round in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol shooting competition.

9:23 a.m. -- Tim Morehouse, a Brandeis University alum, and the U.S. Men’s Sabre Fencing team have lost in the quarterfinals to Russia. They will play Belarus in the 7-8 placement match at9:30 a.m.

9:19 a.m. -- Laura Georges, a Boston College alumna, and the French Women’s Soccer team have defeated Sweden in the quarterfinals. Georges scored the equalizing goal in the 29th minute.

9:18 a.m. -- Chinyere Pigot, a UConn student competing for Suriname, did not make it past the heats in the Women’s 50m Freestyle competition.

9:15 a.m. -- Sarah Trowbridge, of Guilford, Conn., placed sixth in Final A of the Women’s Double Sculls competition. Ken Jurkowski, of New Fairfield, Conn., placed sixth in Final D of the Men’s Single Sculls competition. Brodie Buckland, a Harvard University alum rowing for Australia, placed fifth Final A of the Men’s Pair competition. Meindert Klem, a BU alum rowing for the Netherlands, placed fifth in Final B of the Men’s Pair competition.

Thursday, August 2

3:16 p.m. -- Elizabeth Beisel, of Saunderstown, R.I., has advanced to the finals in the Women’s 200m Backstroke competition. She was the fastest swimmer in the semifinal — clocking in more than a half-second quicker than the next fastest swimmer, Missy Franklin.

1:21 p.m. — Needham-native gymnast Aly Raisman placed fourth in the Women's Individual All-Around competition.

12:43 p.m. -- John Isner of the Boston Lobsters World Team Tennis franchise has lost to Roger Federer in the quarterfinals of the Men’s Singles competition.

9:36 a.m. -- Will Newell, of Weston, and Nick LaCava, of Weston, Conn., did not medal, but finished second in Final B in the Lightweight Men’s Four rowing competition. Henrik Rummel, a Harvard alum, and Charlie Cole, of New Canaan, Conn., finished first in Semifinal A/B 2 of the Men's Four competition. 2:34 p.m. -- John Isner of the Boston Lobsters World Team Tennis franchise has beaten Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia in straight sets in the third round of the Men’s Singles competition.

1:29 p.m. --  Temi Fagbenle, of Harvard, Rachel Vanderwal, a BU alum, Johannah Leedham, a Franklin and Pierce alum, and the British Women’s Basketball team have lost to Russia in group play, 61-67.

11:21 a.m. -- Michael O’Keeffe, a Fairfield University Student, and the New Zealand Men’s Soccer team have lost to Brazil in group play, 3-0.

11:14 a.m. -- Rob Crane, of Darien, Conn., sailing in the Men's Laser competition, finished 16th in his fifth race and 25th in his sixth race.

3:37 p.m. -- Melissa Gonzalez, a University of Connecticut alumna, and the U.S. Women’s Field Hockey team has beaten Argentina, 1-0, in group play.

2:36 p.m. -- Lauren Cheney, Heather O’Reilly, Meghan Klingenberg (all of whom play for the Boston Breakers), and the Women's U.S. Soccer team have beaten North Korea in group play 1-0. Laura Georges, a Boston College alumna, and the French Women’s Soccer team have defeated Colombia in group play 1-0.

1:28 p.m. — Aly Raisman and the U.S. Women's Gymnastics team have won the gold medal in the Team All-Around competition.

11:40 -- Rob Crane, of Darien, Conn., sailing in the Men's Laser competition, finished 30th in his third race and 28th in his fourth race.

11:15 a.m. — Mark Medelblatt, a Tufts University alum sailing in the Men's Star competition, placed eighth in his fifth race and ninth in his sixth race this morning.

11:04 a.m. — The sailing team comprised of Trevor Moore, of North Pomfret, Vt., and Erik Storck, a Dartmouth College alum, placed 16th in the third race and first in the fourth race of the Men's Sailing 49er competition this morning. Alexander Kirkland, a Tufts University alum racing for Bermuda, finished 18th in the third race and did not finish the fourth race.

10:58 a.m. — Karen O'Connor, of Bolton, placed ninth in the Individual Eventing portion of the Equestrian competition. The O'Connor and the U.S. team placed seventh in Team Eventing.

10:57 a.m. — Tess Gerrand, a Yale University alumna rowing for Australia, advanced to Final A of the Women's Eight rowing competition. Final A will pit Gerrand against the U.S. team comprised of fellow New Englanders Elle Logan, Esther Lofgren, Caryn Davies, and Taylor Ritzel, and Ashley Brzozowicz and the Canadian team.

10:56 a.m. — New England rowers continue to represent the region well. Sarah Trowbridge, of Guilford, Conn., placed second in the Women’s Double Sculls repechanges and advanced to the Final A group. Kristin Hedstrom, of Concord, placed first in the Women’s Lightweight Double Sculls second repechange, and advanced to Semifinal A/B 1. Ken Jurkowski, of New Fairfield, Conn., advanced to Semifinal D in the Men's Single Sculls competition. Gevvie Stone, of Cambridge, advanced to Semifinal A/B 2 in the Women’s Single Sculls competition. 7:01 p.m. — University of Connecticut alumnae Sue Bird, Asjah Jones, Tina Charles, Swin Cash, Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi, and the rest of the U.S. Women's Basketball team have defeated Angola in group play.

4:54 p.m. -- Courtnay Pilypaitis, a University of Vermont alumna, Tamara Tatham, and Alisha Tatham (both UMass Amherst alumnae) and the Canadian Women's Basketball Team have defeated Temi Fagbenle, of Harvard, Franklin and Pierce alumna Johannah Leedham and the rest of the British squad in group play.

11:54 a.m. -- John Isner of the Boston Lobsters World Team Tennis franchise beat Malek Jaziri of Tunisia in straight sets to advance to the next round of the Men's Singles competition.

11:26 a.m. — Trevor Moore of North Pomfret, Vt., and Erick Storck, a Dartmouth College alum, sailing in the 49er competition, finished sixth in their first race and 10th in their second race. Zander Kirkland, a Tufts University alum, also competed in the 49er, but did not finish the first race and finished 19th in the second race.  Rob Crane, of Darien, Conn., racing in the laser competition, finished 35th in his first race and 42nd in his second race. Mark Mendelblatt of Tufts University competed in the Men's Star races this morning. He finished fifth in his third race and third in his fourth race.

11:14 a.m. -- Henrik Rummel, a Harvard alum, and Charlie Cole, of New Canaan, Conn., finished first in their heat with a time of 5:54.88 to advance to the Rowing Men's Four semifinal. Jozef Klaassen, a BU alum competing for the Netherlands in the Men's Eight, advanced to the finals.

11:00 a.m. — Shelley Olds, of Groton, placed seventh in the Women's Individual road race with a time of 3:35:56. Evelyn Stevens, of Acton, placed 24th with the same time.

10:15 a.m. — Michael O'Keeffe, a Fairfield University student, and the New Zealand soccer team, tied Egypt in group play 1-1.

10:00 a.m. — Tim Morehouse, a Brandeis University alum, lost in the Men's Individual Sabre quarterfinals to Diego Occhiuzzi of Italy.

New England rowers have had quite the morning — Elle Logan, Esther Lofgren, Caryn Davies, Taylor Ritzel, and Ashley Brzozowicz (rowing for Canada) all made the  Women's Eight finals, and Kristin Hedstrom (Women's Lightweight Double Sculls), Tess Gerrand (rowing in the Women's Eight for Canada), William Newell and Nick LaCava (Lightweight Men's Four) all advanced to the next round of their respective competitions.

Saturday, July 28

5:00 p.m. — Laura Georges, a Boston College alumna competing in Women's Soccer, helped the French team defeat North Korea 5-0 in group play. Laura scored the first goal during the 45th minute.

3:11 p.m. -- Elizabeth Beisel, of Saunderstown, R.I., won the silver medal in the 400m Women's Individual Medley. Dorian Mcmenemy, of Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough but competing for the Dominican Republic, finished 41st in the first heat of the Women's 100m Butterfly.

2:20 p.m. -- John Isner, of the Boston Lobsters World Team Tennis franchise, and his double's partner Andy Roddicklost in the opening round to Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares of Brazil.

2:00 p.m. — Meindert Klem, a BU alum rowing for the Netherlands, and Brodie Buckland, a Harvard alum rowing for Australia, both advanced to the semifinals in the Men's Pair. Ken Jurkowski, of New Fairfield, Conn., advanced to the quarterfinals in the Men's Single Sculls. Gevvie Stone of Cambridge advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women's Single Sculls.

1:30 p.m. — William Miller, of Duxbury, and the U.S. team advanced to the finals in Rowing Men's Eight by finish first in their heat. Florian Mennigen, a BU alum rowing for  the German Men's Eight team, also advanced to the finals by finishing first in the other heat. A second BU alum, Jozef Klaassen, advanced to the repechanges rowing in the Men's Eight for the Netherlands.

12:00 p.m -- Lauren Cheney, Heather O'Reilly, Meghan Klingenberg, all of whom play for the Boston Breakers, and the U.S. Women's Soccer team defeated Colombia 3-0 in group play.

11:30 a.m. — Sarah Hendershot, of West Simsbury, Conn., advanced to the finals in Rowing Women's Pair. She came in second in her heat with a time of 6:59.29.

9:44 a.m. -- John Isner, of the Boston Lobsters World Team Tennis franchise, beat Olivier Rochus of Germany in Men's Singles to advance to the next round.
