Lawmakers To Hold Hearings On Crime Lab Crisis
PlayAs more details emerge in the ongoing state crime lab scandal, Massachusetts lawmakers are organizing their own investigation.
Clinton state Rep. Harold Naughton, chairman of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security, is calling for a hearing as early as next week.
"We want to talk to people, everybody involved," Naughton said, "from the chemists in the lab, to the managers, to the executives of the department, to find out what happened here."
Officials suspect that one chemist at the Jamaica Plain drug-testing lab deliberately tampered with evidence in thousands of cases.
Among those Naughton plans to question is state public health chief, who announced his resignation Monday.
