Boston City Worker Arrested On Child Porn Charges

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has placed a city worker on unpaid administrative leave effective immediately after police arrested the 47-year-old man on child porn charges.

James Mansfield is an executive assistant in the Boston Transportation Department. He is charged with possession of child pornography. He was arrested Friday after an internet investigation revealed he was engaging in graphically sexual chat.

Police also say Mansfield was exchanging pictures of boys in various stages of undress.

Menino on Saturday vowed that Mansfield will be fired after an administrative hearing.

The mayor says it saddens him that anyone could endanger children, but to know the person who allegedly perpetrated these acts is truly devastating.

Jake Wark, a spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney's office, says Mansfield will be arraigned Monday.
