Boston Mattapan Murders Suspect Faces Retrial

Opening statements in the retrial of a Boston man charged with killing three adults and a toddler in the city's Mattapan neighborhood two years ago are getting under way.

Dwayne Moore faces four counts of first-degree murder at his retrial starting Wednesday in Suffolk Superior Court.

The jury was empaneled in Worcester County at the defense's request.

Prosecutors say Moore took part in the drug-related shootings on Sept. 28, 2010. A fifth victim was left paralyzed.

Moore's first trial ended in a hung jury. A co-defendant, Edward Washington, was acquitted.

The trial may hinge on the testimony of the survivor, Marcus Hurd, who in the first trial said he did not see the shooter, but has since said he did.

Moore's lawyer says his client denies the charges.
