Expert: Mayor's Diabetes Diagnosis Should Not Interfere With Work

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is beginning the long journey of treating and managing Type 2 diabetes, a new diagnosis revealed publicly by his doctors Monday.

To get a sense of the road ahead for the mayor, we spoke with Dr. David Nathan, director of Massachusetts General Hospital's Diabetes Center. He is not involved in treating Menino but spoke with WBUR's All Things Considered host Sacha Pfeiffer about the likely first steps in the mayor's treatment.
