MBTA Driver Involved In Crash Cited For Speeding
The operator of a Green Line trolley that rear-ended another train parked at the Boylston station on Thursday had been cited by the MBTA in 2009 for speeding.
A spokesman for the MBTA said the citation was for running a C branch trolley 13 miles over the speed limit along Beacon Street in Brookline. The 46-year-old male operator was disciplined and retrained after the violation.
The T has not released the operator's name, but placed him on paid leave while the crash is investigated.
The driver was reportedly set to receive a safety recognition pin Friday for three years of accident-free driving.
