Newton Teacher Sentenced In Federal Child Porn Case

Prosecutors say a former Boston-area elementary school teacher has been sentenced to 45 years in prison by a Louisiana federal judge for taking part in an international child pornography ring.

Thirty-five-year-old David Ettlinger of Newton was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Maurice Hicks in Shreveport. Prosecutors said Ettlinger pleaded guilty in August to one count of engaging in a child exploitation enterprise. Federal prosecutors said Ettlinger was one of 72 people charged with trading graphic images on a private online bulletin board known as Dreamboard, showing young children being molested by adults.

Ettlinger also faces child sexual assault charges in Massachusetts. He pleaded not guilty last year to state charges that he indecently assaulted and taped three Boston-area girls. Authorities said none were his students at the Newton school where he taught for 12 years.
