Special Elections On Tap In Peabody, Everett

Special elections are being held to fill two vacant seats in the state House of Representatives.

Voters in Peabody go to the polls on Tuesday to choose a successor to the late Rep. Joyce Spiliotis, who died in November after battling cancer.

Republican Leah Cole, Democrat Beverly Griffin Dunne and independent candidate David Gravel are vying for the seat.

In Everett, voters on Tuesday will choose between Democrat Wayne Matewsky and independent candidates Rosa DiFlorio and Dennis John Giantassio.

The seat was left vacant when Stephen "Stat" Smith resigned from the House after agreeing to plead guilty to casting invalid absentee ballots.
