NWS: Tornado Strikes Stoughton

The National Weather Service says a preliminary survey shows that a small tornado touched down in Massachusetts.

The weak tornado, an EF0 on the enhanced Fujita scale that measures tornado intensity, with wind gusts from 65 miles per hour to 85 mph, touched down in the area of Washington Street in Stoughton at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

A series of storms moved across the area southwest of Boston at that time.

Employees of an RV dealership in Stoughton say they saw a funnel cloud come through the area that was strong enough to move campers weighing several tons a few feet, and rip a garage door off its hinges.

There were no reports of injuries.
