Final Guidelines For Marathon Relief Fund Released

The administrator of a fund created to help victims of the Boston Marathon bombings has released final guidelines for distributing the money.

The document released Wednesday, which follows a public comment period on a draft protocol, gives top priority to families of those who died, as well as double amputees and those who suffered permanent brain damage.

Next are those with single amputations, then those whose injuries required an overnight hospital stay. They're followed by those treated on an emergency outpatient basis.

Potential claimants have until June 15 to register for benefits. They can then meet with fund administrator Kenneth Feinberg before payments go out June 30.

The fund has raised more than $30 million. But Feinberg has warned it still won't be enough to justly compensate everyone who deserves it.
