Coakley Wins Backing Of Major Fundraising Group

Attorney General Martha Coakley was won the backing of a major fundraising group that helps elect Democratic women who support abortion rights to higher office.

The support of the group EMILY's List could jumpstart Coakley's efforts to raise some of the millions generally needed to run a gubernatorial campaign in Massachusetts.

Coakley is one of five Democrats actively running for governor. There is one other woman in the race, former federal and state homeland security official Juliette Kayyem.

EMILY'S List President Stephanie Schriock called Coakley "a trailblazer who has shown an unwavering commitment to serving her community and Massachusetts as a strong advocate and problem solver."

It's not the first time the group has backed Coakley. They also helped raise money for her unsuccessful U.S. Senate run in 2010.
