Boston To Boost Police, Limit Parking For World Series

If the Boston Red Sox are able to win the World Series at Fenway Park, police and city officials want to make sure fans celebrate responsibly.

Boston holds a 3-2 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals with Game 6 and if necessary Game 7 scheduled at Fenway for Wednesday and Thursday nights.

The Red Sox won championships in 2004 and again in 2007. But they haven't won the deciding game of a World Series in Boston since 1918.

Police plan to put extra patrols on duty to guard against any unruly celebrations.

City officials are urging fans to take public transportation to and from the city and are
imposing many parking restrictions (see below).

Notes About World Series MBTA Service:

- If necessary, bus and subway services will continue until all fans from Fenway Park have been accommodated after the game’s conclusion, but will otherwise run on their normal weekday schedules.

- The Fitchburg/South Acton, Franklin, Haverhill, Lowell and Providence/Stoughton commuter rail lines will be held approximately 45 minutes after the game's last out to accommodate commuters, but will leave no later than 1 a.m.

- The Framingham/Worcester Line will depart South Station at its regularly scheduled time. An extra train will accommodate World Series passengers at Yawkey Way and will depart approximately 15 minutes after the last out.

- All additional commuter rail lines will depart at their respective stations at their normally scheduled times.

Boston Parking Restrictions:

No vehicles, including residents' vehicles, will be allowed to park in any area that is posted with temporary signs that read, “No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Wednesday and Thursday 4 PM to 2 AM.”
