State Rep: DCF Employees Falsified Records About Missing Fitchburg Boy

The Massachusetts Legislature could begin hearings as soon as next week into the Department of Children and Families and its mishandling of the case of a missing 5-year-old Fitchburg boy.

Three DCF employees have been fired over the case of Jeremiah Oliver, who has not been seen in more than three months and is feared dead. His mother, Esla Oliver, and her boyfriend, Alberto Sierra, are both facing charges.

According to Democratic state Rep. David Linsky, of Natick, an internal report shows that social workers falsified records about their home visits and contact with the family.

Linsky, who chairs the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight, says he's concerned there may be other cases the department mishandled. He joined WBUR's Morning Edition for more.
