Woman Dead In Dorchester Parade Shooting

Boston police are investigating a Saturday morning shooting that left a young woman dead.

The victim has been identified as Dawnn Jaffier, a 26-year-old city resident.

Police said officers assigned to the J’Ouvert Parade heard gunshots shortly after 8 a.m. on Saturday and later found the victim in the area of Charlotte Street and Blue Hill Avenue in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood. She was taken by EMS to Boston Medical Center, where she later died.

A second woman was found nearby with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

Police said they questioned three men after the shooting. Two were later released, but a third, 18-year-old Keith Williams, of Boston, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

It was not immediately clear if the incident was connected to the parade, part of the city's annual Caribbean Carnival.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the police's Homicide Unit.
