No Basis Found For 2007 Report On Blackstone Family

The state's child protection agency says it investigated a previous complaint of possible child neglect at the squalid Blackstone home where authorities found three babies' bodies this week.

The Department of Children and Families said Friday it didn't find anything to support the 2007 report and didn't open a case.

Two weeks ago, DCF removed four children from the home after police told the agency about the living conditions discovered by a neighbor. DCF said it acted within an hour of getting that report.

The children's mother, Erika Murray, was charged with reckless endangerment and the house was condemned.

This week, police returned to the house and found the babies' remains. Murray was charged with fetal death concealment, witness intimidation and permitting substantial injury to a child. She pleaded not guilty Friday.
