Report: Baker Names 3 To Key Energy Policy Positions

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker has announced the appointment of three people who will help lead his administration's energy policy.

The administration announced that Robert Hayden will serve as commissioner of the Department of Public Utilities, responsible for ensuring the state's electricity and gas utilities provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy while also encouraging energy efficiency and cleaner energy.

Angela O'Connor, who founded the New England Power Generators Association, will serve as chairwoman of the Department of Public Utilities.

Ron Gerwatowski, a former senior vice president for regulation and pricing at utility National Grid, will serve as assistant secretary for energy under Matthew Beaton, the secretary of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.

Beaton tells The Boston Globe that the trio brings knowledge and experience to their jobs.
