Mass. Priest Placed On Leave Amid Sexual Abuse Allegation

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston has placed a Massachusetts priest on administrative leave after receiving an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor.

Rev. Thomas Gillespie is pastor of St. Theresa of Lisieux Parish in North Reading. The archdiocese said Sunday that the allegation concerns the priest's conduct in the late 1970s and was recently reported to the archdiocese.

The archdiocese notified law enforcement of the allegation and is conducting a preliminary investigation. It says Gillespie will remain on administrative leave without any public ministry pending the outcome of the preliminary investigation.
