About 1,800 people walked through the streets of Boston from dusk Saturday night to dawn Sunday morning to raise awareness about suicide and suicide prevention.

The walk is known as The Overnight. It's the biggest suicide prevention walk in the country, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention holds it in a different city each year.

Mike Ruggiero of West Bridgewater joined WBUR just after walking 16 miles through the night in memory of his mother, who died by suicide.

This segment aired on June 28, 2015.
