Jury Awards Millions To Woman Raped In Boston Hotel Parking Garage

A jury has awarded $4 million — $6.6 million including interest — to a woman raped in a Boston hotel parking garage in 2009.

The jury found Tuesday that JPA I Management Co. Inc., which owned the Radisson Hotel and garage on Stuart Street, and JPA IV Management Co. Inc., which operated it, failed to provide adequate security even though they knew another woman had been raped in the garage 12 days earlier.

Jurors found garage manager Laz Parking Limited LLC wasn't liable.

The lawsuit alleged the hotel should have warned customers and posted extra garage security. The same man later pleaded guilty to both rapes.

The JPA companies' lawyer says they disagree with the jurors, but respect their decision.

The woman and her attorney say they hope her lawsuit will improve garage security and help other victims.
