Hardwick Man Charged With Starving Son Due In Court For Dangerousness Hearing

A Massachusetts man charged with starving and beating his 7-year-old son is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for a dangerousness hearing.

Randall Lints, of Hardwick, is due in East Brookfield District Court.

The state Department of Children and Families took custody of the boy on July 14 and took him to a hospital after his father called 911 to say he was unresponsive. He weighed just 38 pounds, well below average for a boy his age. He appeared to be dehydrated and starving and had bleach burns on his hands and knees.

The agency had previously been involved with the family.

Lints is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to assault and endangerment charges.

The boy is in a long-term rehabilitation center.
