Man Fatally Shot In Mission Hill Stop & Shop Parking Lot

A man was fatally shot in broad daylight Wednesday afternoon as he walked through a Stop & Shop parking lot in Mission Hill, police say.

According to a statement from the Boston Police Department, officers responded around noon to a call for a person shot outside the Stop & Shop grocery store located at 1620 Tremont Street.

When they arrived, officers found a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital where he later died.

Police have not identified the victim or any potential suspects.

In a video published by The Boston Globe, Police Commissioner William Evans said he believes the shooting wasn't random and that the victim was targeted.

"It's troubling," Evans said. "Unfortunately [there are] way too many shootings, but when it happens in broad daylight, with young kids here and the elderly and people going about their day business, it's more brazen."

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470 or, to submit information anonymously, call the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1 (800) 494-TIPS or text the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).
