Bridj — the Boston-based on-demand shuttle bus service that was also looking to provide late-night bus service for the MBTA — is out of business.
CEO Matt George announced the decision Sunday in a blog post.
People who used Bridj could hail one of the company's private shuttle buses by using an app that then directed them to the nearest pickup location.
George said the three-year-old company had been pursuing a deal with "a major car company" instead of getting traditional venture capital funding — but the deal fell through.
Bridj had about 50 full-time employees and was running a pilot program in Kansas City, Missouri, where it was working with a local transit agency.
