Nearly seven years after then-Gov. Deval Patrick signed the state's landmark gambling bill into law, Massachusetts' first resort-style casino is set to open to the public on Friday.

Located in Springfield's South End, the MGM development includes a casino floor with table games, an outdoor pool deck, a giant chess board and a chandelier inspired by Dr. Seuss — who was a Springfield native.
