Trooper Who Police Say Failed To Disclose Drug Past Resigns

Massachusetts State Police say a trooper has resigned after an investigation found she failed to disclose her past involvement in drug dealing and her own drug use.

Police Spokesman Dave Procopio said Friday that Leigha Genduso was issued a dishonorable discharge.

Genduso tells The Boston Globe that she will appeal. She told the newspaper she decided to "walk away with some dignity rather than keep battling."

Procopio says an internal affairs investigation found Genduso didn't disclose her involvement in a drug dealing operation and made "demonstrably false statements regarding her past involvement in criminal activities."

Before she joined state police, Genduso testified in court against her former boyfriend and admitted to helping him run a marijuana trafficking operation.

Genduso's laywer called the internal investigation a "coverup from day one."
