New Mass. U.S. Reps. Pressley And Trahan Are Sworn Into Office

They're no longer congresswomen-elect.

Massachusetts U.S. Reps. Ayanna Pressley and Lori Trahan were sworn into office Thursday in Washington, D.C., as the 116th Congress convened.

Pressley, who represents the 7th district, is the state's first black woman elected to Congress. She said she used her granddad's Bible during the swearing-in.

Trahan represents the 3rd Congressional District. In a tweet, she said she was "[r]eady to get to work for #MA03.

The entire Massachusetts delegation is Democratic. Nancy Pelosi was elected speaker as Democrats formally took over the U.S. House.
