Templeton Officer Faces Child Rape Allegations

A Massachusetts police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave after being charged with multiple counts of child rape.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that 37-year-old Templeton Officer Edward Holden is free on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty last month to multiple charges.

Templeton Chief Michael Bennett says Holden was not arrested but received a summons to appear in court as part of a state agency investigation. The chief said it was his understanding the alleged offenses occurred in 2012 and 2015 and involved one person.

Holden's attorney, Gregory Hession, said in an email to the newspaper Sunday that his client denies the allegations.

He is due back in Orange District Court on July 5.
