Man Killed, 2 Officers Hurt In Rutland Crash

Two Massachusetts police officers are recovering from injuries after a crash that left a Worcester man dead.

According to Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr., a police cruiser from the town of Paxton was following a vehicle Friday night after reports that it was being operated erratically in the town.

Early says the car driven by 63-year-old Kevin St. Peters crossed the center line of Route 122 and slammed into a K-9 cruiser from neighboring Rutland that was also responding to the incident. The Paxton cruiser then rolled over while attempting to avoid the crash.

Rutland officer Matthew Fenuccio and Paxton officer Edward Santiago were both treated for non-life threatening injuries.

St. Peters was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said a police dog in the Rutland cruiser was uninjured.
