State Lawmakers Consider Carbon Pricing Proposals To Reduce Emissions

The decade that just ended was the hottest in recorded history, according to federal government researchers. And their data shows that every decade since the 1960s has been warmer than the one that preceded it.

The researchers say there's no doubt: carbon emissions from the burning of fossil fuels is to blame for the changing climate.

This week, Massachusetts lawmakers and state officials considered several proposals to reduce emissions by putting a price on carbon.

WBUR's Bruce Gellerman squeezed into the joint House-Senate hearing and joined Morning Edition host Bob Oakes to report.
