Boston Police Officer Tests Positive For Coronavirus

A Boston police officer has tested positive for coronavirus, authorities said on Sunday.

The Boston Police Department said the officer has been staying home and wouldn’t return to work until medically cleared. They added that the officer’s work area was “thoroughly cleaned” after he tested positive for the virus.

Boston police did not provide any more information about the officer, including an age or what part of the city they worked in.

The news comes as Mass. ramps up its testing efforts, doubling its daily testing capacity since Wednesday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state is now 525, up from 413 on Friday.

Of those 525 cases, 102 are in Boston, according to data released by the city.
