The former admissions director at a Massachusetts nursing home faces charges of embezzling more than $230,000 from a resident and spending the money on home repairs, vacations and other personal expenses, prosecutors said.

Christina Polcari, 54, of Belmont, was indicted by a grand jury on embezzlement, larceny and forgery charges, according to a statement Monday from the Massachusetts attorney general’s office.

From August 2018 until May 2019, while working at the Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham, Polcari misappropriated more than $230,000 of an elderly resident’s funds, according to the statement.

Polcari also used a forged signature for promissory notes, letters, and checks in order to perpetuate the scheme and in an attempt to cover it up, prosecutors said.

She faces arraignment in Middlesex Superior Court at a later date. It was unclear if she had an attorney.

Polcari, who left her position in May 2019 when nursing home officials became aware of her alleged crimes, has repaid some of the money, prosecutors said.
