Suspect Arrested In Fatal East Boston Christmas Eve Stabbing

An East Boston man is facing a murder charge for a fatal Christmas Eve stabbing near the Maverick MBTA Station, according to Boston police.

Steven Anthony Hatfield, 36, was arrested on Christmas day, police said in a statement Sunday.

Police said officers responded to a report of a person stabbed in the area of 208 Sumner St. on Thursday night, where they found a man suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim's name has not been released.

Hatfield will be arraigned in East Boston District Court, police said.
