Former Suffolk County Prosecutor Arrested On Rape, Burglary Charges

A former Suffolk County prosecutor and defense attorney was arrested Friday afternoon by Boston police and charged with rape.

Investigators said Gary Zerola — once named one of "People" magazine's most eligible bachelors — had been wanted on a warrant issued out of Boston Municipal Court for rape and breaking and entering in the nighttime.

The 49-year-old resident of Boston and Salem is expected to appear in court Friday afternoon.

Police had asked for the public's help Wednesday in tracking down Zerola, saying he might be operating a 2016 White Jeep Cherokee.

It wasn't immediately clear if Zerola had an attorney.

Zerola has faced previous charges of rape and sexual assault.
