The Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals will be returning this summer with three  separate three-day events due to COVID-19 restrictions, organizers announced Thursday, April 8.

The folk festival will take place over two weekends, July 23-25 and July 26-28, at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island and will feature "surprise performances, storytelling and workshops."

Newport Jazz Festival is scheduled for July 30-Aug. 1, and will also be held at Fort Adams State Park with four stages.

Tickets have not yet gone on sale yet for either festival and organizers say they'll be releasing access to the events in phases as well as sharing updates on safety protocols soon.

This summer's events mark the return of the festivals after having been canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
