Saugus Woman Found Dead On Arizona Hiking Trail

Friends and family are grieving the death of a Saugus woman who was found dead after disappearing on an Arizona hiking trail Friday afternoon.

Phoenix Police identified the victim as 31-year-old Angela Tramonte, according to The Boston Globe and other news outlets. She was found unresponsive off the Echo Canyon Trial, the Phoenix Fire Department said. Phoenix police are leading an investigation into her death.

A female companion who said they were hiking together but became separated called 911 at 1 p.m. Friday when the victim failed to return to the Camelback Mountain parking lot, fire Capt. Rob McDade said in a statement.

More than 30 members of a fire rescue team aided by a helicopter searched the area and found Tramonte about 4:40 p.m. but efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
