5 things to do this weekend, including Films at the Gate and tango in the park

Are you feeling any late summer restlessness? Lately, I’ve found myself feeling like I’m waiting for something to happen as the summer winds down. To fill my time, I’ve been trying out new hobbies and taking a few workshops. If you’re feeling like me, stop by the Condon Shell in Medford for a free tango lesson — no partner necessary. This week, we’ve got movies, dancing, walking tours and more to keep you busy through this transitional month.

Trio Let's Vamos at the Elliot School

Sunday, Aug. 28

On Sunday, the Elliot School in Jamaica Plain will host a free concert by Trio Let’s Vamos. The group is a Brazilian American group of musicians who will play Forró Pé-de-Serra, a genre that formed on the farms and plantations of Northeast Brazil. The rhythms are inspired by farmhands who would herd cows and gather coffee and vegetables. Trio Let's Vamos’ music includes a mix of regional sounds, including baião, xaxado and samba. The show begins at 4 p.m., and visitors are encouraged to bring their own seats and blankets.
