Want to run the 2023 Boston Marathon? Registration opens Monday

Registration for the 2023 Boston Marathon opens Monday morning.

Runners who have qualifying times can register through the Boston Athletic Association's website starting at 10 a.m. Registration closes at 5 p.m. Friday.

In many recent years, just having a qualifying time wasn't good enough to get a coveted bib number, but for this past April's race everyone who had a qualifying time and applied got in. This year, 30,000  will be accepted into the field, and it will be interesting to see if that happens again.

The 127th Boston Marathon will take place on Patriots Day, which is April 17.

At this point, proof of vaccination against COVID won't be required to participate in the race.
