Heavy rains, thunder and lightning in parts of Massachusetts
Heavy rains and potentially damaging winds are expected in parts of Massachusetts throughout the day on Tuesday as a cold front passes through New England, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain already caused some flooding in southeastern Massachusetts and Newport County in Rhode Island on Tuesday morning, but residents in some areas should expect isolated storms throughout the rest of the day.
Meteorologist Danielle Noyes said the brunt of the storm is expected north and west of Boston, with heavy rainfall and a risk of lightning.
"For Boston, we'll need to be on guard until about 10 p.m. for the chance of a thunderstorm to blow through," she said. "Downpours, gusty wind, lightning the biggest concerns, but the risk is much higher to our north and west."

Although storm effects will be scattered and vary in the region, residents are advised to monitor the weather and have a plan to seek shelter in case of severe weather.
Skies are expected to clear overnight, with lows in the 60s. Wednesday and through the weekend is mostly sunny.
