OSHA investigating after window washer falls to his death in Boston

A federal safety agency is investigating after a window washer fell several stories to his death in Boston on Monday.

The Suffolk County district attorney's office identified the man Tuesday as Nichols Marks, 40, of East Weymouth. Marks was cleaning along the exterior of the skyscraper at 100 Summer Street Monday morning when he fell. First responders said he was dead when they arrived at the scene, according to Boston police.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to Mr. Marks’s family and friends at this tragic time. The investigation being conducted by OSHA will determine what role, if any, our office will have moving forward in this matter,” Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a statement.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration confirmed it has opened an investigation to learn more about what happened and verify whether the window washing company, Sky Safety Inc., was following federal safety regulations.
