Here are the 8 Stop & Shop locations that will close in Massachusetts

Stop & Shop announced Friday that it will close 32 "underperforming" stores across the Northeast — including eight stores in Massachusetts — as part of a previously announced plan to reposition the company.
In a press release, the Quincy-based supermarket chain said all of the closures are expected to happen "on or before Nov. 2." Specific store closing dates will be communicated "well in advance" to customers, the release added.
The eight Massachusetts stores include seven Stop & Shop locations and one of the brand's bfresh Market spinoff concepts:
- Brockton — 932 North Montello St.
- Raynham — 36 New State Highway
- Halifax — 341 Plymouth St.
- Shrewsbury — 539-571 Boston Turnpike
- Newton — 165 Needham St. (This is a bfresh Market.)
- Springfield — 415 Cooley St. (The Stop & Shop locations at 1600 Boston Rd. and 1277 Liberty St. in Springfield will remain open.)
- Worcester — 545 Lincoln St. Worcester (The Stop & Shops at 940 West Boylston St. and 949 Grafton St. in Worcester will remain open.)
- Pembroke — 24 Mattakeesett St. (The store at 125 Church St. in Pembroke will stay open.)
The closures also include five Stop & Shop locations in Connecticut and two in Rhode Island. The other Northeast stores the company intends to shut down are in New York and New Jersey.
“As we announced in May, Stop & Shop has evaluated its overall store portfolio and made the difficult decision to close underperforming stores to create a healthy base for the future growth of our brand," Stop & Shop President Gordon Reid said in a statement.
All employees at closing stores will be offered jobs at other locations, the company said.
“Our associates are a strong community dedicated to growing and working together, and all of our store associates will continue to have a place in the Stop & Shop family as we look forward to serving customers at other nearby locations,” Reid said
During an investor meeting in May, Stop & Shop's Dutch parent company Ahold Delhaize said the closures are part of a multi-year business plan that includes remodeling stores in areas where the chain has “a strong market position” and cutting prices.
The 32 closures overall account for just over 8% of Stop & Shop's nearly 400 locations across New England, New York and New Jersey. Once they are shut down, the company says it will have 81 stores in Connecticut, 115 in Massachusetts, 47 in New Jersey, 91 in New York and 25 in Rhode Island.
