WATCH: Walz and Vance meet in VP debate

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance sparred Tuesday in a vice presidential debate.

The only vice presidential debate of the season followed two presidential debates featuring three major party candidates. Former President Trump trounced President Biden in the first debate in June, prompting a reckoning in the Democratic party that led to Biden ending his reelection campaign. Vice President Harris quickly sewed up the Democratic nomination and was widely considered the winner against Trump in the second presidential debate held last month.

While vice presidential debates don't garner the same audience as clashes between the party's headliners, they have created memorable moments — some intentional, like Sen. Lloyd Benson's "You're no Jack Kennedy" slam against then-Sen. Dan Quayle in 1988, and some not, like the fly that briefly upstaged Vice President Pence in 2020.

You can watch the debate, hosted by CBS and simulcast by other news organizations, below.
