What's open and closed for Thanksgiving in Mass.

Thanksgiving, along with Christmas, is a day where you really better not need to run an errand. In addition to all federal, state and local offices, retail shops and liquor stores are closed (although some businesses may be open if they receive a permit from the state to do so). Even pharmacy giant Walgreens has said it will close most stores for the holiday.

You can catch a ride on the T, but only on some services, and even then it'll run on a curtailed schedule.

While many people will gather with loved ones and feast on Thanksgiving, not everyone is so lucky. If you're in need of a place to eat or help in securing food — or if you want to volunteer to help those in need — you can find resources near you here.

Here's the list of things that are open and closed on Thanksgiving:

Federal offices: Closed.

Federal courts: Closed.

Post offices: Closed.

State offices: Closed.

RMV: Closed.

State courts: Closed.

Municipal offices: Closed.

Public schools: Closed.

Libraries: Closed.

Trash pickup: Check with your local government or provider. Boston residents can check for pickup delays by searching their address here.

Banks: Closed, though most ATMs will remain available.

Stock market: Closed.

Retail locations: Closed.

Liquor stores: Closed.

Supermarkets: Closed.

MBTA: The subway, buses and The Ride will all operate on a Sunday schedule. The commuter rail will operate on a weekend schedule. There will be no ferry service.
