What's open and closed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in Mass.

You did it! You made it through another year. This is a cause to celebrate for a lot of people, though some of us are just as happy under our blanket, streaming our favorite watch like it's any other night.
If you plan to ring in the new year with First Night in Boston, check out this guide for what to expect from the city's day-long party.
Here's the list of things that are open and closed on New Year's Day. We've also grabbed the T's plans for New Year's Eve for your safe reveling purposes:
Federal offices: Closed.
Federal courts: Closed.
Post offices: Closed.
State offices: Closed.
RMV: Closed.
State courts: Closed.
Municipal offices: Closed.
Public schools: Closed.
Libraries: Closed.
Trash pickup: Check with your local government or provider. Boston residents can check for pickup delays by searching their address here.
Banks: Closed, though most ATMs will remain available.
Stock market: Closed.
Retail locations: Open.
Liquor stores: Open.
Supermarkets: Open.
MBTA:
- New Year's Eve: The T will operate its normal schedule for buses, Commuter Rail, ferries and The Ride. The subway will see increased service after 3 p.m. Service is free after 8 p.m.
- New Year's Day: The subway, buses and The Ride will all operate on a Sunday schedule. The commuter rail will operate on a weekend schedule. There will be no ferry service.
