04:09

While St. Patricks Day may get more attention, Boston's Evacuation Day marks a major turning point in the American Revolution. The March 17 holiday marks the day in 1776 when British troops and loyalists left Boston after an 11-month siege.

Peter Drummey, chief historian of the Massachusetts Historical Society, joins WBUR to talk about the key event in American history.

This segment aired on March 17, 2025.
