Watch: NPR, PBS leaders testify before House DOGE subcommittee
Leaders from PBS and NPR are scheduled to testify Wednesday before the U.S. House Oversight Committee's "Delivering on Government Efficiency" (DOGE) subcommittee to answer questions about the media companies' funding models and coverage.
The hearing is expected to largely focus on federal dollars appropriated by Congress to the broadcasters, which in addition to corporate and member donations, partially fund the outlets. Totaling roughly $535 million, the federal funds are distributed by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to the news organizations and their hundreds of respective affiliate stations.
Some Republican legislators, along with members of the Trump administration, have accused the outlets of left-leaning biases.
Starting at 10 a.m., you can watch NPR CEO and President Katherine Maher and PBS CEO and President Paula Kerger testify with the video below. (WBUR is an NPR affiliate in Boston.)
