Here's who is running for mayor of Boston in 2025
Mayor of Boston is typically a long-held title. The city's chief executives tend to stay in office for multiple terms, or return to the job again and again.
The last elected mayor to serve just one term was Frederick Mansfield, who left office in 1938. It wasn't for a lack of trying; mayors couldn't serve consecutive terms back then.
Mayor Michelle Wu hopes to keep that multi-term streak alive. But she has a deep-pocketed challenger in Josh Kraft, a philanthropist and scion of the New England Patriots' Kraft family. Community activist Domingos DaRosa and former Boston police officer Robert Cappucci have also made it onto the ballot.
The city will hold a nonpartisan preliminary election on Sept. 9 to narrow the candidate pool to the top two vote-getters ahead of the November general.
