Organizers could not have wished for a more beautiful day to run 129th Boston Marathon.

With temperatures topping out in the low 60s along the route, racers and spectators alike were treated to the best of Boston spring.

While the temperatures were mild, the performances by racers were anything but.

Sharon Lokedi blazed to a record-smashing finish Monday, after a tight race with defending champion Hellen Obiri.

The Patriots' Day race was overlaid with celebrations marking 250 years since the American Revolution kicked off in Massachusetts.

Ahead of the race, a Paul Revere reenactor rode down Boylston Street proclaiming “the runners are coming!" But his trusty steed was spooked by the finish line decal and stopped just short of the finish line.
